Research Interests: Kamilah investigates the ways school and home contribute to adolescents’ schooling experiences and development. She is interested in ways that school disparities (e.g, school tracking) and parents’ socialization (academic, racial) are associated with students’ self-perceptions, development, and educational outcomes.

Research Interests: Heidi investigates implicit barriers to academic achievement in minority youth and youth from low-income backgrounds. More specifically, she is interested in the development of implicit stereotypes, achievement attributions, achievement motivation and other factors that may detract youth from graduating high school or attending college.

Research Interests: Marketa is interested in understanding how gender and racial stereotypes impact the educational outcomes of African American children and adolescents. She is also interested in the roles of teachers and parents in their development.
